Mike Smedstad began playing golf later than most, picking up the game at age 20 during a summer break in his hometown of Cranbrook in 1986. He purchased a membership at his local club and quickly developed a lifelong passion for the sport.

Mike started his professional career at McCleery Golf Course in the winter of 1990, the same year he got married. Shortly after, he turned professional and worked as a teaching professional at Riverway Golf Course for three years before moving into golf management. He became a General Manager in 1998 with Eaglequest Golf, where he spent six years overseeing operations.

In his current role as General Manager at Mayfair Lakes Golf & Country Club, Mike leads a talented team across all areas of the club while still enjoying teaching lessons from time to time. His wife, Diana, and children, Ben and Jessie, have been a constant source of support, and the entire family remains active in sports.
